J108 - Tengah Plantation & Park year-end review

11 December 2022 - An overview of Tengah Park station.

Contract J108 is for the construction of 3 stations on the Jurong Region Line (JRL), however we will only be covering the 2 stations within Tengah for this contract in this post. No worries, the next station will be covered in the following post so no losing out there. While contract J108 may fall under the second phase of the line, works at this contract are progressing at lightning speed.

Tengah Park station
This section of the contract was the first to see a launch gantry be lifted into position out of the 14 contracts for the construction of stations and viaducts. Works are progressing along fairly well and we'll have an upcoming special collaboration to bring you further updates on the progress of the launch gantry.

Multiple piers can be seen at the station site, a vast difference from the few that were visible during Chinese New Year earlier in the year. Since then, some of the piers have been topped off with viaduct segments which have been bonded in place and will serve to create the first span of the JRL viaduct. We expect that the launch machine will proceed in a northerly direction towards Tengah Plantation station.

Tengah Plantation
This station has made great strides to completion since we found a great vantage point. Earlier in the year, works were still at the foundation pile level but have since progressed to the casting of the station support pier crossheads. The progress made is a sight to behold, when one looks back through the course of the year, being able to see exactly how far along works have come.

With 2023 around the corner, we look forward to more milestones being achieved, such as the commencement of viaduct construction works and concourse level construction at Tengah Plantation station. With the HDB flats in Tengah progressively opening up from the end of 2023, we are also looking forward to more vantage points becoming available for viewing of construction works.

Do stay tuned as we continue bringing updates on the various rail construction sites and feature some collaborations with other content creators too. Wishing you a happy 2023 ahead!
