J107 / Gek Poh & Tawas - A 2024 progress report

Making headway through our 2024 progress report, we've come to the sixth contract and the final one under the first phase - contract J107. In case you missed them, here are the first five parts of the 2024 progress report thus far:

• Contract J102 for Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West & Tengah stations
• Contract J103 for Hong Kah & Corporation stations
• Contract J105 for Jurong West & Bahar Junction stations

Contract J107 for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) was won by Chip Eng Seng - Sembawang Design Corporation (CES_SDC) and involves the construction of two stations at Gek Poh and Tawas. Both of the stations will utilise side platform layouts. Significant milestones attained through 2024 have included the completion of casting for all viaduct piers along the contract, the commencement of roof frame installation works at Tawas station and the long span crossing over the Pan Island Expressway reaching the mid-point. We take a closer look at the various accomplishments made in greater detail after the jump.

J106 / Boon Lay - A 2024 progress report

 

To wrap the year, we've started a series called the 2024 progress report. This series aims to recap all the accomplishments and changes made through the work at the various sites over the year. Here are the other parts for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) thus far:

• Contract J101 for Tengah Depot
• Contract J102 for Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West & Tengah stations
• Contract J103 for Hong Kah & Corporation stations
• Contract J105 for Jurong West & Bahar Junction stations

This contract has seen a lot of progress through 2024. Some of the highlights would include the completion of viaduct segment launching, the commencement of viaduct span preparation for handover to track laying contractor and the commencement of exit construction. Contractor China Communications Construction Co (CCCC) has been working steadily and safely in spite of all the challenges faced along the contract's length. We recap all of these after the jump.

J105 / Jurong West & Bahar Junction - A 2024 progress report

The Jurong Region Line (JRL) 2024 progress report continues with an update on contract J105, responsible for the construction of Jurong West & Bahar Junction stations. This is the fourth update in the series to close off an update on the progress made along the JRL over the 12 months of the year. Here are the first three posts in the series:

• Contract J101 for Tengah depot
• Contract J102 for Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West & Tengah stations
• Contract J103 for Hong Kah & Corporation stations

Several milestones were achieved through the year under the contract. These include the completion of significant stretches of viaduct spans along Jurong West Avenue 2, completion of the two concourse level spans for the Bahar Junction satellite station building and the commencement of roofing works at both stations. Parapet wall works had also begun between the two stations. As of end 2024, work was going on to complete the remaining sections of viaducts where gaps were still present. We'll take a look at all of China Railway No 11 Bureau's accomplishments for 2024 after the jump.

J103 / Hong Kah, Corporation & Reception Tracks - A 2024 progress report

We're on a roll to wrap up progress made on the Jurong Region Line (JRL) through the 12 months of the year. This series began with contract J101 for the Tengah depot and was followed by contract J102 for Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West & Tengah stations. We'll now continued on to contract J103 for Hong Kah and Corporation stations & the connecting Reception Tracks that link the main line with the depot.

Contract J103 has done well on the station building front but suffers on the viaduct construction aspect. The station buildings at both Hong Kah & Corporation have advanced to the stage of installation of the station roof frame and subsequent roofing works. However, there remain large gaps in the viaducts where spans were not yet constructed or viaduct piers were still being built. Of importance though, is to note that the former joint venture between Eng Lee & Wai Fong was affected by the former's financial performance which ultimately saw the company shut down, leaving the latter to carry on with the project as the sole contractor. J102 / Choa Chu Kang, CCK West, Forest Hill & Tengah - A 2024 progress report

Continuing on with our 2024 progress report, we now come to the stations under contract J102. Arguably the largest contract under the Jurong Region Line (JRL), the contract stretches across approximately 4.3km from Choa Chu Kang to Tengah and includes 3 stations. Also included in the contract are the bare bones for a future station within Tengah's northeast sector, which we refer to as Forest Hill, after the Tengah planning district in which it is located.

Progress on the contract has seen several milestones through 2024 which include the handover of the first sections of viaduct to the track works contractor, completion of launch gantry Mulan's viaduct segment launching and the completion of all viaduct piers along the contract. We take a closer look at the various sections in detail after the jump.

Amidst all the rain at the end of the year, we bring you the November Jurong Region Line (JRL) snapshot. With work going on round the clock, the various components and structures of the line inch closer to completion. That said, there still is a lot of work to be done as you'll see in this post.
