The final part of the third phase of the Jurong Region Line (JRL) extends from the northern end and winds its way through the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This section has 2 contracts spanning 3 stations - contract J113 for the construction of Nanyang Gateway & Nanyang Crescent stations and contract J115A for the construction of Peng Kang Hill station.
Nanyang Gateway
Contract J113 has been awarded for some time now, hence works under this contract are at a more advanced stage than neighbouring contract J115A. A road diversion was implemented recently after drainage works had completed in the area, allowing the contractor space to work where the station will eventually be located.
Gone are the sleepy meandering road ways, now replaced by noise barriers, hoarding & construction machinery. The line will climb up a slight hill, making construction here challenging to prevent excessive erosion as the ground is prepared for the construction of the viaduct piers.

Nanyang Crescent
This station, also under contract J113, will be located smack-dab in the heart of NTU. The former pedestrian overhead bridge has slowly been stripped of its fittings and was scheduled to be removed from boxing day till 29 December 2022.
The hillside outside the National Institute of Education (NIE) has also seen tremendous change with the trees there felled and ground preparation well underway. Instead of green, one now sees a heap of orange-tinged soil. As the site is being cleared, heavy machinery is beginning to move in to commence piling for the viaduct piers.

Peng Kang Hill
The contract for the construction of Peng Kang Hill station, J115A, was the last to be awarded along the entire JRL network. This is in part due to the down-sizing measures from the previous contract J115. Under the previous contract, a remote stabling facility would have been built on site as well. This has since been deferred and provisions to the track and viaduct will exist to potentially have the facility constructed at a later date once the need for such becomes pressing.
In the meantime, works are slowly commencing with site preparation. Try as they may, contractor Hwa Seng Builders may have a harder time in catch up to progress made over at sister Nanyang Gateway & Nanyang Crescent stations.
