With August now done & dusted, we are really in the tail end of Q3 of 2025. That means its a mere 2 years to go till the first section of the Jurong Region Line (JRL) is set to open - we're not quite sure which part of 2027 this would be, but that is the target year. The major milestone achieved through August 2025 has been the completion of viaduct span construction works for another contract. With this, 5 out of 12 contracts have completed such works. More details can be found after the jump.

Phase 1
This phase has been moving into more exciting works, with rail laying progressing rapidly through the phase and all contracts except for J103 having completed viaduct span construction works. Most stations have since progressed onto architectural fit out works both internally and externally, although such works appear to mostly have been related to the trial set of fittings thus far.

Track works are an important component of the construction process. The critical gap that currently remains also unfortunately involves the connection to the depot as viaducts under contract J103 still remain under construction. Apart from this section, rails have been laid from Hong Kah to just south of Choa Chu Kang station and from Tawas to Jurong West and Bahar Junctions.

Tengah depot (Contract J101)
In a nutshell: Glass facade installation works continued for the administration building, as its structure had been completed for some time now. External facade components were also being put up at the stabling shed, with the purplish/grey-ish panels seen far in the distance. Rails also appear to have been connected within the rolling stock workshop, another critical milestone to be hit before the depot can begin receiving the JRL trains, apart from having a functional road system for delivery trucks to access the various buildings within.

JS1 - Choa Chu Kang (Contract J102)
In a nutshell: The new station additions were coming along fairly steadily, with roof frame installation works completing. The next step involves the installation of the various layers of roofing insulation and protection. Similar frames were being installed at concourse level, along the station perimeter facing westwards. Viaduct access appears to have been handed over to the trackworks contractor up to the station approaches, with rails seen in the section of viaduct running parallel to the existing North-South Line (NSL) and Bukit Panjang LRT.

JS2 - Choa Chu Kang West (Contract J102)
In a nutshell: Construction work has quickly moved onto the roof segments for both the station and the exits. At both the exits, double escalators have been installed to facilitate movement up to and down from the station's concourse level. The unpaid corridor connecting the two exits may also serve as a replacement street-level pedestrian crossing in time to come. Track laying works had progressed through the station at both platforms since July's update, with concrete casting works taking place to the station's west to set the rails in place. Along the route over Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, reinstatement works were in place as drains are roadside kerbs were reconstructed.

JS2A - Forest Hill (Contract J102, provisional future station)
In a nutshell: Work along the stretch in the vicinity of the future infill station appear to be focused on the pouring of concrete to secure the trackbed into position. To do so, the rails need to be checked to ensure that they remain a constant width apart and are also free from obstructions on the viaduct. Concrete is thereafter poured to form a continuous trackbed, with additional rebar added in for the construction of concrete guards to be located on the outside of the running rails, containing any incidents of derailment.

Phase 2
Works under this phase are logically further behind than its phase 1 counterparts, although some contracts have better progress than others. The first contract to complete viaduct construction works on a large scale was contract J108 which saw the last viaduct span completed in Tengah. This now means that a continuous viaduct stretching from Tengah station all the way to the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) crossing between Bukit Batok West and Toh Guan stations exists.

JE1 - Tengah Plantation (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: Work had begun on the installation of the final layer of roofing at the station - JRL station roofs feature three layers. Work was also in progress for the construction of the exit that would eventually feature direct connection to the Plantation Plaza at level 2. With viaduct span construction finally completed with gantry Magnificent Mammoth, the next few months will see the gantry being lifted down and eventually dismantled. With the lifting of the gantry off from the completed viaduct, other works such as the installation of parapet walls and waterproofing systems can commence, eventually followed by track works.

JE3 - Bukit Batok West (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: Viaduct span construction works were recently completed when the West Coast-bound viaduct had its final span adjoining the station completed using the trestle assembly method. Works have since progressed on to parapet wall installation. Apart from that, installation of planter boxes along the exit linkbridge were in progress, with approximately half of the length of the bridge installed with these. At the exit podium, a set of double escalators had also been installed, with the remaining section of linkbridge (connecting the main span with the exit podium) to follow.

Tracks through Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub (Contract J120)
In a nutshell: With the viaduct spans completed, works had transitioned to the casting works required for the parapet walls and dividing walls through the Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) building. As the line cuts through the ITH building, dividing walls separating the tracks from other areas to be accessed by shoppers and tenants would need to be built. The top slab of the viaduct spans through the building had also yet to be cast.

JE5 - Jurong East (Contract J110)
In a nutshell: The station's roof for the new addition had begun to grow steadily from the initial beam that had been installed previously. In addition, reconfiguration works at the existing station had also began to ramp up. At the station's eastern end, new emergency staircases were being built for platforms A and B. These works may involve realigning the connection to the pedestrian overhead bridges leading to Venture Drive and the temporary Jurong East bus interchange. At the western end, works for the transfer hub had begun to pick up pace, with the support structure for the concourse level becoming apparent.

JE6 - Jurong Town Hall (Contract J109)
In a nutshell: Most of the station's roof frame was installed in place and with the noise barriers since removed, afforded an easier view into the station's progress. Plant rooms at either end of the platform level had yet to be built, which would mean that the capping off for the roof frame at either end would take some time to complete. Supporting piers for the linkbridge connecting to 2 exits within the International Business Park had also not been constructed yet. The launch gantry for viaduct span construction was located to the south of the station and was working on the construction of a span for the West Coast-bound track.

In a nutshell: Works continued at the station's platform level, with most of the station structure covered in scaffolding and construction netting for casting works of the trackbed and parapet walls. Further south of the station, crosshead construction works were ongoing for several viaduct piers. Approximately 5 crossheads remained to be constructed for the segment that runs parallel to West Coast Road, with a further 3 along Jurong Town Hall Road to be completed in this section. The launch gantry along West Coast Road was slowly progressing towards the station.

Phase 3 (South)
In the southern section of Phase 3, contract J111 was making quicker progress of the stations and viaducts than contract J112. Both stations under J111 had reached the platform level with works taking place at those levels, while the two stations under J112 had not yet reached the platform level. Viaduct span construction was completed for significant sections under J111 as well, whereas J112 had seen approximately 3 sections completed.

JS9 - Enterprise (Contract J111)
In a nutshell: Of the southern stations, this one is the furthest along in construction progress. The entire platform level has since been completed, with works likely to progress onto the plant room construction at either end of the level. Viaducts on either side of the station extend for several spans, only broken by the occasional span where a movement & expansion joint is required. Above Jurong Central Park and along Jurong West Street 64, parapet installation work has commenced along the viaduct. Additionally, next to Safra Jurong clubhouse, preparation works could be seen for a temporary staging area for track works along Phase 3's southern section.

JS10 - Tukang (Contract J111)
In a nutshell: Casting for the station's platform level was underway, with works beginning from the middle and working outwards to either end of the station. The station features a similar layout to that of Enterprise, utilising only 9 station piers instead of the typical 10 for a JRL station. It can also be expected that the station will feature a single pair of escalators, stairs and a pair of lifts within. Viaduct construction has made significant progress, with 2 out of 3 spans completed south of the station. To the north, 2 out of 4 spans up to the junction with International Road were completed. An additional span was being prepared for cast in-situ works.

JS11 - Jurong Hill (Contract J112)
In a nutshell: This station goes back to the JRL-standard design of using 10 station piers to support the station structure above the road. To date, 9 of these have been constructed with 5 receiving pre-cast crosshead beams. The first concourse level beam was being cast between piers 7 and 8, forming the centre line of the concourse level. On the viaduct construction front, 3 viaduct piers were cast north of the station, up to the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), with span construction ongoing for 1. North of the AYE, approximately 4.5 spans had since been completed up to the contract boundary with contract J111. A fifth was in the process of construction here.

In a nutshell: Works were beginning for the platform level of the station for the 3 columns that had been cast to full height. The remainder of the station remained at half of the intended height though. On the viaduct front, no piers were visible yet between the station and Jurong Hill station, although foundation piles had been bored and cast. Excavation works would need to follow, with pile cap construction taking place below the backfill level before the piers will become visible above ground level.

Phase 3 (North)
The northern section of Phase 3 was moving along quicker than that of the southern section. Both stations under contract J113 had commenced on roof frame installation works, while the terminus being built under contract J115A had made significant progress structurally. Viaducts were also coming along fairly quickly, with only a few sections featuring gaps in span construction.

JW3 - Nanyang Gateway (Contract J113)
In a nutshell: Several columns were already installed above the station's platform, with several more lying on site awaiting installation. Gaps where the viaduct piers for the Choa Chu Kang-bound
single track were recently constructed were quickly being filled in as viaduct segment launching works took place.

JW5 - Peng Kang Hill (Contract J115A)
In a nutshell: The structure of the station can now be clearly seen, with the southern half abutting Nanyang Drive. Here, the platform level could be clearly seen, along with the lower concourse level. The plant rooms at this end of the station were being cast as well. At the other end of the station, the double lift core could be seen, to be connected to the upper concourse level. Several viaduct piers would support viaduct spans south of the station building. One such span for the Choa Chu Kang-bound track would employ the cast in-situ method of construction. A junction point would allow connection to the remote stabling facility when constructed in future. Viaducts north of the station were fast closing the gaps, with mostly sections with movement & expansion joints remaining.
