In a matter of no time, we've come to the end of Q1 of 2025. Its been a while since we've covered a snapshot update due to health issues. With things now coming back on track health-wise, we resumed going out and getting some updates to cover the quickly progressing Jurong Region Line (JRL) over March. Be warned, this snapshot update is a long, lengthy and juicy one.
Phase 1
There were several major accomplishments through March in this section of the line. Contract J102 completed viaduct construction and contract J107 completed its viaduct crossing over the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in February. With the exception of Gek Poh station, all stations along phase 1 have commenced roof frame installation in some degree.
Tengah depot (Contract J101)
In a nutshell: Major progress was observed at the administration building, rolling stock workshops and multi-story bus park this month. You can read about the progress made over Q1 in more detail here.

In a nutshell: Roof frame installation works have begun at the station. Escalators were also installed, although only 2 out of the 3 intended for connection between concourse and platform levels have been fulfilled at this point. The pits for the third escalator remain and will likely be installed in future, where demand necessitates. Construction of the station's 2 exit structures was also quickly taking shape.

Tracks between Hong Kah station, Corporation station & Tengah Depot (Contract J103)
In a nutshell: Several more viaduct piers have taken shape for the eastern reception tracks connecting the Tengah Depot and Hong Kah station, leaving the area looking somewhat like a tangled mess. Viaduct segment launching is about to begin for the eastern reception tracks. Meanwhile, viaduct segment launching over the westbound carriageway of the PIE had mostly been completed while a short gap still remained over the eastbound carriageway of the expressway. Westwards, there were still significant gaps in both the main line running to Corporation station and the western reception tracks. It is likely that viaduct construction in this section may only complete towards the end of the year.

Phase 2
The next phase of the line was seeing steady progress, with viaduct construction making headway. Contract J108's stations had also all commenced on roof frame installation works while contract J109's stations had all progressed to the concourse level minimally. Work at Jurong East was also seeing swift progress, with the station expansion coming up and reaching the top levels.
JE1 - Tengah Plantation (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: The launch gantry Magnificent Mammoth had successfully crawled through the station building and had begun viaduct segment launching works in the balanced cantilevered mode across Tengah Boulevard. Subsequent updates from MPs for the newly expanded Choa Chu Kang Group Representation Constituency showed that this viaduct span was completed this month, with bonding works to follow after. There are approximately 10 spans remaining for the gantry to complete before being decommissioned. At the station itself, with the gantry having successfully passed through, roof frame installation works could proceed without interruption. All diamond columns for the station were since installed, along with the frames for both lifts at the station. Casting works for the platform slab were also in progress, previously held up by the launch gantry prior to its transit through the station.

In a
nutshell: The last segment of the station's linkbridge connecting to an exit across Bukit Batok Road was installed this past month. With this milestone, the bridge now spans across both bounds of the major thoroughfare. Roofing works continued with the installation of the metal sheeting that would form the final weather protection layers. Work on the structure of the electrical substation that would supply traction power for the line was also substantially completed, with the supply trunking connection to the viaduct visible.

JE3 - Bukit Batok West (Contract J108)
In a
nutshell: About 60% of the diamond columns for the roof frame had been installed. At the station, the two frames for the lift shafts had also been lowered into place at platform level and the linkbridge across the PIE completely installed. To the east of the station, launch gantry Rock Steady sat 3 piers away from the station. A total of 6 spans remain to be constructed on this side of the station, with the gantry likely completing 4 of these before being dismantled. With the gantry's advancement, the pedestrian overhead bridge near the gantry's initial launching position was finally reopened after months of closure for safety reasons. To the station's west, the Tengah-bound viaduct was connected to the station building structure, leaving the West Coast-bound viaduct to follow suit. Two further gaps remained on each bound near Bukit Batok Road as these interfaced with the special span crossing there.

In a
nutshell: With all crossheads for the station's 10 piers completely cast, precast beams were installed to support the concourse slab. Casting works for the last remaining section were in progress. Towards the station's southern end, concourse level columns were being constructed to support the beams for the platform level above. Viaduct construction was proceeding on either side of the station, with viaduct piers beginning the casting process for the crossheads. The special span crossing over the PIE was nearly complete with the curve of the viaduct making a distinctive shape when seen from above.
