J108 - Tengah Park's third span

 

12 March 2023 - An overview of the contract J108 site opposite Dulwich
College, along Bukit Batok Road before the line swings into Tengah.

Its a new week and we kick it off with an update on the Jurong Region Line (JRL) at contract J108. This was the first contract to begin viaduct construction despite being under phase 2 of the line, which is only due to open in 2028. Thanks to Alfred Yeo, who has kindly contributed his pictures, we have some early photos from last week when the construction of the third span was in its infancy.

9 March 2023 - A total of 5 segments have been lifted.

9 March 2023 - A segment box has been placed atop the Pandan Resevoir-bound track pier.

9 March 2023 - An overview of the launch gantry works.

As of 9th March, works on the third span had lifted a total of 5 segmental box girders. A typical span usually consists of approximately 12 box girders. However by 12th March, the entire span consisting of 12 girders had been lifted.

Work is progressing quickly, especially on span construction when one compares to the methods being employed at other contracts. It is likely that the greenfield nature of the site plays a vital role in allowing the contractor to move as quickly as they have.
