Contract J105 for the construction of Jurong West and Bahar Junction stations and associated viaducts for the Jurong Region Line was awarded to China Railway No 11 Bureau in December 2019. Prior to construction works commencing on site, extensive utility diversion works have been ongoing at the site of the future Jurong West station.
Large cylindrical sewer pipes can be seen at the street surface level as new sewer pipes are constructed to replace the existing infrastructure that will be decommissioned once construction of the new station begins.

To facilitate the sewer construction works, Jurong West Avenue 2 has been diverted slightly. The future station will be sited in the road median, and will comprise 3 levels. It will be served by 3 entrances with provisions for a further 1 entrance in the future.
Also sighted recently at the nearby Housing & Development Board (HDB) flats were notices informing residents about the pre-construction surveys to be done. S
imilar to that found at HDB flats along the worksite for contract J106 for the construction of Boon Lay station, a surveyor would take readings and photographs to act as a baseline from the period before construction commences. This will serve as a basis for comparison against which any defects or damages can be assessed.

The survey is expected to be conducted over the months of July & August, following which construction activities can be expected to ramp up. However in view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the severity of the virus infections will definitely determine the pace at which work can be carried out.
