It's been a while since we've done a Snapshot feature for the Jurong Region Line (JRL), with the last being done in September 2025. Since then, we've had the chance to visit the various sites again after a brief hiatus in October (you know, life gets busy). Here are some of the highlights, each of which could be their own headline, from the month of November:
The first of these headlines is significant, as it means that rail laying works can commence across the entire Phase 1 of the line. In fact, this has largely commenced as you'll come to see later on. Viaduct span construction is still ongoing along various parts of Phase 2 and 3. In total, 9 contracts have completed viaduct span construction works from a total of 13, bringing completion by contract to approximately 69%.
Phase 1
Most stations under this phase have completed roofing works and have moved onto construction of the station exits. One notable exception to this, however, is at Gek Poh where construction works require the closure of Jurong West Street 75 to proceed at an accelerated schedule. Elsewhere, reinstatement works below the project sites were taking place.
Track works have also ramped up with the rails first being installed then the alignment cast in place with the concrete plinths acting as guard rails. Noise barriers are there transported along the rails to be installed in place along the viaduct's parapet walls. To date, all phase 1 stations with the exception of Choa Chu Kang have had rails installed.
Tengah depot (Contract J101)
In a nutshell: Works have progressed at the administration building with more cladding installed. The rolling stock stabling shed has also had more cladding installed as well. Other structures such as the rolling stock workshop, train wash plant, locomotive & permanent way workshops still require further works to match the level of completion of the administration building & rolling stock stabling shed.

JS1 -
Choa Chu Kang (Contract J102)
In a nutshell: Choa Chu Kang station is the only phase 1 station to not have rails laid yet. The roof panels of the station were being installed as well, likely to be the only station featuring a red roof to match with the existing North-South Line (NSL) and Bukit Panjang LRT (BPLRT) stations. Within the NSL station, hoarding around the newly installed lift and reconfigured escalators at the northern end of the station was being removed. These would allow for similar reconfiguration works to be carried out at the southern end of the station.

Choa Chu Kang West (Contract J102)
In a nutshell: Noise barrier installation works were in progress along the stretch of line along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, with the majority of the supporting posts installed. At the station site, works were moving towards the architectural element installation commencing. Part of the glass facade could be seen installed at the concourse level along with cladding along the ceiling facade panels. Also taking place along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, reinstatement works were being carried out with drainage reconstruction taking place.

In a nutshell: Marked progress at the station includes the construction of 2 of 3 exit linkbridges connecting the station to the exits. With the installation of the station's glass facade at concourse level, it is slightly more difficult to view the interior to understand the progress of works there. At platform level, works have yet to commence on the installation of the utility boom.

Gek Poh (Contract J107)
In a nutshell: Roofing works were underway with the frame for the entire station completed. Installation of the layers of insulation was being worked on. At the platform level, the utility boom was being installed along the length of the platform. It appears that initially, each platform will be served by 2 escalators, 2 lifts and 4 staircases each within the public area. In December, the section of Jurong West Street 75 passing beneath the station will be fully closed to allow for reinstatement works. These works are likely to include construction of the station exits next to Gek Poh shopping centre & block 749.

Tawas (Contract J107)
In a nutshell: Station interior works and facade architectural works were progressing. At the facade, additional metal structures were being added to shelter the interior from rain and other weather elements. In the interior, cladding systems were being installed to allow for the ceiling panels to be hung. The station exits were yet to be completed, nor the linkbridges connecting to the concourse level. Along the track, noise barriers were being installed on either side of the station.

Phase 2
The second phase of the line is coming along, albeit at a slightly slower pace. Most stations have since commenced roof installation works, with the only exception being Toh Guan station. The other development would be the construction of station exits commencing for Tengah Plantation station, along with associated connecting linkbridges. Apart from that, little else has realistically changed within the phase.
JE1 - Tengah Plantation (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: With roofing works nearly completed for the station, works were shifting towards the station exits. The exit near Plantation Plaza had its structure completed with the linkbridge connecting to both the shopping centre and station concourse level. The other remaining exit was less completed though. With viaduct span construction works completed, the section of Plantation Crescent that was formerly closed to traffic was cleared and subsequently reopened to traffic from 1 December 2025.

JE2 - Tengah Park (Contract J108)
In a
nutshell: Interior fit out works appear to have begun within the station, what little of it we can see at least. At the platform level, the utility boom was being installed with the initial frame through which electrical ducting will be installed visible. At concourse level, framing for the installation of wall panel cladding was visible within the atrium well for stair and escalator access to the platform.

In a
nutshell: Everything at the station appears to point to its readiness for rails to be laid, with the station and its connecting exit having its structure completed. Recent releases by the construction joint venture indicate that the 12m high noise barriers around the connecting exit will be disassembled and the former multi-purpose hall rebuilt shortly.

JE4 - Toh Guan (Contract J109)
In a
nutshell: Works to cast the station platform progressively were underway, with both ends of the station featuring significant progress. The centre section of the station still featured bare rebar. Following the completion of casting works, it is likely that roof frame installation works would commence as well. To the north of the station, viaduct span works were mostly completed, save for a few gaps between spans and a missing segment of approximately 1.5 spans immediately north of the station. To the south, viaduct segment launching works were still in progress at various piers. The section crossing over the existing EWL tracks was gearing up for likely launching using the trestle system, with a giant crawler crane being erected on site to assist with lifting works.

JE5 - Jurong East (Contract J110)
In a nutshell: Roof frame installation works were nearing completion, with one section of cladding installed along the roof thus far. On either end of the station, viaduct span construction works were completed, together with parapet wall installation. At the western end of the station, the transfer link hub was beginning to take shape, with the upper levels beginning to appear near the interface at level 3 where connections to the existing platforms would be made. Within the existing NSL & EWL station, reconfiguration works were taking place at various points along the platforms for the relocation of utilities and services to make way for the demolition of the plant rooms located at the platform end connecting to the future transfer link hub.

In a
nutshell: The Town Hall station has been progressing quietly, with the full roof frame installed and now roofing panels following suit. Preparatory works were underway for the linkbridge connecting to the station to be added on in due time. Viaduct spans to the north/west of the station were installed with parapet walls, while viaduct span construction continued to the south with the launch gantry abutting the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). Closer to Jurong East station, crosshead casting works were underway for the pier long span crossing above Jurong Town Hall Road and work on the split level viaduct was progressing well.

In a
nutshell: The station was the latest along phase 2 to commence roof frame installation works, with approximately half of the initial roof frame structure installed. Work was slightly delayed due to an unfortunate fatal accident in the site's vicinity, which resulted in a stop work order. Our condolences to the worker and his family. The entire platform level had since been cast, with crossheads for the viaduct piers south of the station following suit.

No station exit structures were visible yet for the stations under contract J111, although these were in place for some exits at Jurong Hill station under contract J112.
JS9 - Enterprise
(Contract J111)
In a nutshell: The roof frame was nearly completely installed, with roof panel installation works also in progress concurrently. Lift shaft frames could also be seen already installed at platform level, prior to roof panel installation overhead. To the station's north, viaduct span construction works were complete while only a few gaps remained in the section south of the station. Where the line crosses over Jurong Central Park, next to Safra Jurong club house, a temporary staging area was being set up for track works along this phase of the line.

In a nutshell: The final station on the line had commenced roof frame installation works. With most of the frame in place, it would be a matter of time before the panels began installation works as well. Viaduct span construction to the north of the station was largely completed, with parapet wall installation taking place. South of the station, a few gaps remained to structural completion of the viaduct span construction works. The viaducts under this contract also include connection points to the since deferred remote stabling facility which would have been built behind the station.
