This post was originally available as a condensed version on our Facebook page. Today, the first produced set of the eventual 62 sets of the J151 train for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) was spotted being transported in Korea. The train is likely to be the first produced set which will undergo systems testing before official full production commences. A similar process was conducted previously for the Downtown Line's (DTL) set 03. The testing process will help to validate the design of the train under real-life scenarios before the design is replicated for all remaining 61 sets. The prototype production unit is then retrofitted with any adjustments and supplied as one of the eventual trainsets for use on the line.

In addition to the above pictures, there were also several videos that rail fans in Korea managed to capture. The smaller width of the train, at 2.75m which will be narrower than all other existing MRT lines, is apparent in the second video. In that video, the locomotive hauling the train set is almost flush with the platform of the station through which it passes, however there is a noticeable gap between the platform and the J151 train set as it passes through. This narrower design will help the J151 train sets navigate the tighter-than-normal curves along the alignment as it traverses through some built up areas. Examples of such areas will be at Choa Chu Kang, Bahar Junction and Jurong East.
