J106 - Roads back & now for the bicycle park

In our previous visit to Boon Lay, we covered the preparations for the road diversion. Last weekend, the road was again shifted, but away from the temporary split configuration. Both bounds are now back together again, side by side. This shift will allow the former location of the roadway to be transformed into a work site to enable the construction of the Jurong Region Line (JRL) station above.

Traffic was observed to be smooth flowing on the 9th October, several hours after the diversion took place. Works were largely completed for the roads but several footpath diversions had not taken place yet. One of the most significant changes was the alteration to the pedestrian crossing patterns at the road junction - previously it was shaped like a C or a U, where pedestrians could cross on 3 different sides of the junction. Now it is shaped like an L, where pedestrians can only cross on 2 sides of the 3 sides possible.

But these amendments are not the only changes coming - there's more. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) issued a circular yesterday detailing the shifting of the bicycle parking stands in stages. The new stands will be located to the south of the station. Do check out the circular below.
