Work on contract J102 has proceeded swiftly with demolition of Block 303 Choa Chu Kang central commencing in December 2020. A month later and the entire block has been brought down to make way for the new Jurong Region Line (JRL) being added to the station complex. As part of the JRL project, two additional platforms will be constructed at the station, allowing access from the North South Line (NSL) to the JRL.

Further along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, some works can be noticed such as tree felling and trial trenching works. As time goes on, it is expected that the pace of such works will ramp up further. Additionally, a new hoarded-off site has come up where the line curves to run parallel to the existing NSL tracks.
