As our previous post was getting rather long, we decided to split up the updates for easier readability. This section will cover updates on contract J109, the second contract under phase 2 of the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Contract J109 was won by Daewoo - Yongnam joint venture and involves the construction of Toh Guan, Jurong Town Hall & Pandan Reservoir stations. Interestingly this contract is split into 2 sectors located north and south of Jurong East interchange which will be built under a separate contract, being contract J110 won by Daelim.

J108 Construction Update - Q3 2021

Phase 2 of the Jurong Region Line (JRL) is the final phase we cover in our update for Quarter 3 of 2021. This phase consists of 4 contracts - J108, J109, J110 and J120 for the construction of various parts of viaducts and stations. Contract J108 was won by John Holland-McConnell Dowell and will connect phase 2 to the rest of the line at phase 1's Tengah interchange station. The contract will involve the construction of 3 stations at Tengah Plantation, Tengah Park & Bukit Batok West.

As this post is rather photo-heavy, we have decided to break the post up according to contract for easier readability. Do look out for our subsequent posts on other sections of the line.

JRL3 Construction Update - Q3 2021

25 September 2021 - Slope stabilization works at Jurong Hill station site.

Phase 3 of the Jurong Region Line will be the last stage of the line to be commissioned.  This phase comprises of approximately 4 contracts - J111, J112, J113 & J115A. Of these, three have since been awarded, with 1 contract - J115A - being re-tendered. As this section of the line will be commissioned around 2028 to 2029, the works at the sites are not at an advanced stage yet with mostly utility works in progress. This is likely due to the contracts being recently awarded as well.

JRL1 Construction update - Q3 2021

8 September 2021 - A view of the Choa Chu Kang interchange site as seen from an MRT train.

It has been a few months since our last update and unfortunately, there has not been too much progress on the line's construction. Majority of the works are still focused on the preliminary stages of utility diversion and site preparation. At some sites, there has not been much visible progress while others show a bit more visible work. In this update we'll do our best to give an overall summary of the progress.

Work on contract J102 has proceeded swiftly with demolition of Block 303 Choa Chu Kang central commencing in December 2020. A month later and the entire block has been brought down to make way for the new Jurong Region Line (JRL) being added to the station complex. As part of the JRL project, two additional platforms will be constructed at the station, allowing access from the North South Line (NSL) to the JRL.
