Choa Chu Kang

Over the weekend, decided to do a mini walk around in Choa Chu Kang to determine possible corridors for the line to run along. There was pretty intense Soil Investigations along a stretch of road for a good distance. Now, we can't be too sure that these are for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) as they may be for a slew of other works - road widening, new road infrastructure - instead of Rapid Transit System (RTS) lines.

While the soil investigation rigs may point to a potential corridor along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, it is important to note that this may be one potential corridor option out of many. As mentioned earlier, these rigs may also be unrelated to any RTS corridors. That said, these rigs present the possibility of an Avenue 3 corridor in Choa Chu Kang estate.

The Master Plan 2014 shows the area around Choa Chu Kang station zoned as a reserved site (yellow) and as a
commercial site (blue). There may be room for redevelopment of the bus interchange and multi-storey carpark.

With the announcement of station locations several years away yet, it would be prudent to look out for more soil investigation and borehole activity before drawing a complete conclusion over the line's alignment.
