Its the middle of the year and time to check in on progress made along the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Some important milestones have been made through the past month & the first half of the year, which include the completion of viaduct span construction on 80% of the phase 1 contracts and commencement of track laying works at all phase 1 temporary staging areas (TSAs). Join us for a round up of all the progress made across the line in the past month after the jump.

Viaduct span construction progress across the JRL's various contracts.

Phase 1
A significant milestone for Phase 1 of the line has been reached - viaduct construction has been completed for contracts J102, J105, J106 & J107. The only contract with viaduct construction under the first phase is the essential contract J103 though, which also includes the connections to the depot. As of June, the reception tracks had not yet be connected to the main line viaducts. In addition to viaduct construction completion, these contracts were also track-laying ready with some sections handed over to the track works contractor to proceed. Exterior fit out works have commenced at some stations, with cladding and windows being installed.

Station progress along phase 1, due in 2027, as of June 2025.

Tengah depot (Contract J101)
In a nutshell: Quiet progress was made through June, with the buildings slowly coming along. Other areas were also taking shape, with fencing being installed along the depot's test track to segregate the automated train operations from manual operations elsewhere.

JE5 - Jurong East (Contract J110)
In a nutshell: Most of the station structure had been built to the full design height, with a few columns left to be completed at the upper platform level. To the end of the month, several major changes to the passenger circulation paths will be introduced - most notably that of the closure of the temporary staircase and lift serving Exit A of the station which lead to the former JCube mall. Commuters will instead be redirected towards new temporary staircases or escalators near Westgate mall to access the station concourse instead. These works are necessary as the concourse undergoes further reconstruction works to integrate the new transfer hub at the station's western end.

Phase 3 (South)
The southern section of Phase 3 was making steady progress with stations at Enterprise & Tukang focusing on the construction of the platform level. Stations at Jurong Hill and Jurong Pier, though, were not in as advanced a stage of construction. This was also reflected in the progress of viaduct construction within the respective contracts.

Station progress along phase 3 (south), due in 2029, as of June 2025.

JS9 - Enterprise (Contract J111)
In a nutshell: Enterprise station was the first station along Phase 3 (South) to commence works on the platform level. These works continue on with rebar installation for the trackbed segments and casting of the structures taking place. Viaduct construction along the stretch of Jalan Boon Lay had also progressed with gaps remaining mostly where the movement & expansion joints are to be located.

JS11 - Jurong Hill (Contract J112)
In a nutshell: Several more station piers had since been cast, with others following suit. Launching of the precast concourse level crossheads would likely follow shortly. It is also likely that construction of the concourse slab would commence between piers where the concourse crossheads had been completed while other piers begin construction of the crossheads. Several viaduct piers had also began to pop up in the vicinity of the station. On the north side of the Ayer Rajah Expressway, viaduct span construction was in full swing. The movement & expansion joint pier constructed by neighbouring contract J111 had since been handed over to the contractor for contract J112 to facilitate viaduct span connection works.

JS12 - Jurong Pier (Contract J112)
In a nutshell: Unlike other Phase 3 (South) stations, this station was being constructed on the side table of the road and featured an exit to be linked via an underground subway. Columns for the station's northern half had been cast for some time now, but works had not proceeded further up since. Additional columns were in the process of being constructed along the station's length, further south. Construction for the section's viaduct pier foundations had also recently begun with much work still ahead before the viaduct piers become visible.

Phase 3 (North)
The stations and viaducts along the northern section of Phase 3 were making better progress than the southern section's contracts. Notably, all 3 stations were being built under a single contractor, allowing for easier coordination and phasing of works within Nanyang Technological University. All 3 stations were focused on the construction of the platform levels, having completed the concourse/lower concourse levels since.

Station progress along phase 3 (north), due in 2029, as of June 2025.

JW3 - Nanyang Gateway (Contract J113)
In a nutshell: Station building works are progressing with casting work for the platform level structures underway. Within this section of the project along Nanyang Avenue, several gaps remain in the viaduct at movement & expansion joint piers and along the Choa Chu Kang-bound track where piers were able to only be constructed recently.
