Continuing on with our Q1 update of phase of the Jurong Region Line (JRL), we come to contract J112. This contract involves the construction of 2 stations at Jurong Hill and Jurong Pier, a road underpass connecting Jalan Boon Lay and Jurong Pier Road & associated JRL viaducts. We take a deeper look at the progress made over the first quarter in this post.
JS11 - Jurong Hill
The Jurong Hill station will sit in the road median of Jurong Pier Road just before the Jurong Pier flyover. Featuring side platforms, the station is likely to be similar in design as other JRL stations such as Jurong West or Gek Poh. Throughout the first quarter, bored piling works have been underway to create the piles that will support the station piers in the road median. Towards the end of the quarter, sheet pile installation works commenced as well. The sheet piles will serve to allow soil covering the tops of the piles to be excavated before the pier's pile cap can be constructed.

JS12 - Jurong Pier
Of the two stations under the contract, there is more action to be seen at the JRL's southern terminus. Concrete structures have begun emerging at the station site and with each passing month, more such structures get continually added. Roadworks were also performed in the vicinity of the Jurong Pier flyover to divert access along the abutment approach further east. This would allow for works on one of the viaduct piers to take place closer to the bridge's approach structure in the road median.
