A milestone moment has been reached in the construction of the Jurong Region Line (JRL). A section of the under construction viaducts in Tengah have been successfully handed over to trackworks contractor China Railway First Group this week. This section of viaducts, under contract J102 by Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co, has seen the installation of cable racks, cable troughs and first stage concreting before the handover was effected.

J106 - Boon Lay update Q2 2024

16 June 2024 - An aerial view of the new JRL station building and viaducts of contract J106.

Contract J106 for the construction of Boon Lay station and viaducts for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) has seen steady progress at its site through Q2 of the year. Through the quarter, the station building has continued to take shape with the structure rising from the concourse level on the third floor to the platform level on the fourth floor. Eventually, both halves of the station to the north and south of the existing East-West Line (EWL) viaduct will meet above the operational line.

J105 - Jurong West & Bahar Junction update Q2 2024

A view of the Jurong West (top) and Bahar Junction (bottom) stations under contract J105 as
of end-Q2.

Along phase 1, contract J105 is without a doubt one of the most interesting contracts to observe, given that it encompasses the construction of the unique Bahar Junction station. Also included under the contract is the more tame and templated Jurong West station. Over the past quarter, gains have been made in both stations' construction. The viaducts along the stretch were also coming together as well, with sections of completed spans progressing to the next stage of construction.

J103 - Hong Kah & Corporation update Q2 2024

Hong Kah & Corporation stations as seen in end-Q2.

Contract J103 has seen some of the greatest progress in station construction while at the same time, the slowest of viaduct progress among the first phase of the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Over the past quarter, Corporation station has emerged as the most complete along the line while Hong Kah's stagnated progress has finally made some headway. The viaducts however, were still far from completion - a critical component of the line and its operation, given that the viaducts under the purview of the contract also connect the main line with the depot. We'll explore the progress made under the contract over Q2 in greater detail after the jump - do be fair warned, this post is highly picture-intensive.
