Jurong Region Line Construction: JRL2 - A snapshot in July 2026

July 2026 - An overview of the various stations and contracts under Phase 2 of the Jurong
Region Line.

The weather has been brutal lately - either very hot or very wet, making it somewhat difficult to step out and take photos of the Jurong Region Line (JRL)'s stations and viaducts under construction. Nonetheless, we've broken the usual snapshot update into a smaller, more manageable portion that we could handle while still giving you a worth while update on progress of the contracts making up Phase 2 of the line, due by end-2028. There are several key updates which we'll go through to keep you in the know on how the line is progressing.

Phase 2
Architectural elements are beginning to take shape along this portion of the JRL, with station-specific liveries making their debut as others continue with the structural elements. There is good news - contract J109 has completed most of the viaduct construction works, with only a few spans to be completed in the vicinity of Pandan Reservoir remaining to be fully completed. Viaduct construction on the northern part of the contract between Bukit Batok West and Jurong East stations has been completed, with the works here progressing onto the installation of parapet walls.

Most stations along the phase that will feature linkbridges connecting to exit podiums have since had the connecting bridge spans installed. The only exceptions to this are at Toh Guan and Pandan Reservoir where the exit podiums had yet to be fully constructed.

JE1 - Tengah Plantation (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: With the majority of the structural works completed, works are in full force on architectural and mechanical & electrical component installation. Plant rooms are being fitted out in the road median beneath the station's concourse level while works to construct the station's passenger service centre are underway in the station's interior. Finishing works are also being applied to the plant rooms at platform level, with the installation of modular segments on the perimeter of the plant room roofs. Solar panels are likely to be installed here down the road. Installation of glass panels at the concourse level is also underway. The station will sport a purple and lilac livery, as evidenced by the installation of coloured cladding on either side of the station's facade.

JE2 - Tengah Park (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: Like the sister station at Tengah Plantation, this station has also commenced architectural and mechanical & electrical installation works. A red and purple livery will be colours used for this particular station, with the purple accents also being applied to the linkbridge and exit across Bukit Batok Road. Locomotives were busy being loaded with cable drums at the Temporary Staging Area (TSA) used for track works just south of the station building.

JE3 - Bukit Batok West (Contract J108)
In a nutshell: The third station under contract J108 will feature a red and ruby colour scheme for its livery. Also, similar to Tengah Park, the red livery adorns parts of the exits across the Pan Island Expressway and the linkbridge connecting to the station. External facade cladding was also being installed at this exit, the first section likely acting as a trial or proof of installation concept example. Interior works were underway at the station, for the installation of ceiling panels, cladding, glass panels and the utility booms at platform level. In addition, works had commenced on the connecting driveway that will eventually link the station to Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 and the construction of a replacement Multi-Purpose are shelter was close to completion.

JE4 - Toh Guan (Contract J109)
In a nutshell: Arguably the slowest station in terms of progress due to the extremely tight confines of the site, the station has achieved significant progress with the installation of the roof trusses underway. Towards the end of the month, roofing works had begun with the installation of the lower layers of insulation before the final layers of the roof are installed. Works here were still at the structural stage, with the exit podiums beginning construction work at street level where rebar for the columns could be seen. Viaduct construction works along the stretch had also recently been completed, with the lifting devices near Jurong East and the interface with contract J120 slowly being decommissioned.

Tracks through Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub (Contract J120)
In a nutshell: With the JRL viaducts through the transport hub largely completed, there has not been any meaningful or significant progress to report on.

JE5 - Jurong East (Contract J110)
In a nutshell: The station's roof overhang has had architectural components added to it, giving the appearance of cladding hanging off the side of the roof for the moment. It remains to be seen if any other external facade pieces will be added on. Within the station's interior, major works are underway to reconfigure the existing station with the addition of extra sets of escalators and the relocation of existing plant rooms at the existing platforms. In the JRL section of the station, escalators have finally been installed connecting the various levels. Work was also progressing on the transfer hub, with the steel structures slowly meeting the existing station to allow transfers via the upper platform level of the station.

JE6 - Jurong Town Hall (Contract J109)
In a nutshell: The final layer of roofing was being added in to the station and the linkbridge across Jurong Town Hall Road had been installed. Works here were still focused on structural aspects, with the exit podiums being built, albeit to the extent where sufficient to support the linkbridge installation. No escalators were observed to have yet been installed at the station's platform level. As the station site will be used as a TSA for trackworks, the maintenance shed for locomotives could be seen since installed. Viaduct construction works appear to have largely been completed, with continuous sections running all the way to Jurong East and Pandan Reservoir stations.

JE7 - Pandan Reservoir (Contract J109)
In a nutshell: Despite not having all the sections of the roof truss installed, roofing works were underway sufficiently to have commenced on installation of the final roofing layer where possible. Viaducts on the northern end of the station were also completed, with the launch gantry being dismantled. Towards the south, only one of the two track bounds was physically connected to the station structure, with the other viaduct still in progress. Negotiating the 90-degree turn from Jurong Town Hall Road onto West Coast Road is a complex affair, with the balanced cantilever launching method being used here. The second launching gantry is also in the vicinity, having completed its launching works along the cripple siding viaduct running parallel to West Coast Road. Viaduct launching works here should be able to complete by the end of the year, leaving a single contract to complete viaduct construction works along the entire JRL.
