Contract J102 has been awarded to Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (STEC). They have previously been involved in construction of Gul Circle station on the Tuas West Extension, which will come in handily as Tengah station will feature a stacked configuration as well. Contract J103 meanwhile has been awarded to a joint venture of Eng Lee Engineering & Wai Fong Construction. The joint venture is currently involved in the construction of Mount Pleasant station on the Thomson-East Coast Line.

Choa Chu Kang interchange is an existing transfer hub between the North South Line (NSL) and Bukit Panjang LRT. The JRL's arrival in 2026 will add another 4 platforms to the current 6 available at the interchange station. In order to enhance travel connectivity, engineers will add a new platform that allows direct transfer between NSL trains bound for Marina South Pier with the JRL. As such, the roof of this particular platform is noticeably longer than that of its counter part as seen in renders of the station released by LTA.

Choa Chu Kang West station, located along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, will serve a neighbourhood currently a distance away from the existing MRT station. Sited in the road median, the station manages to squeeze itself in between rows of apartment buildings.

As a high anticipated township, Tengah station is located in the town centre marketplace and will eventually be connected to the pedestrian deck that links developments in the area. A future bus interchange will be located nearby, along with other amenities such as shopping malls and retail outlets in time to come. We understand that this station will adopt a similar layout to that of Gul Circle on the Tuas West Extension. However, unlike Gul Circle's configuration where the trains approach the station in a stacked formation, we understand that the JRL branches will each occupy a platform level on their own with the western (main) branch occupying the lower platform level.

Hong Kah station will serve the southern part of Tengah town and is strategically located near an area zoned for a medical facility. It will also offer access to the pond located along the southern fringe of the town. While the overall design concept of the JRL stations remains similar with an arched steel roof, slight design variations have been added at the concourse level with cladding lending the station a more obvious & distinct colouring.

Corporation station is sited next to the campus of the former Jurong Junior College, since vacated due to the school's merger with Pioneer Junior College. The northern side of the station is flanked by empty land which will eventually be developed by the Jurong Town Corporation as part of the Jurong Innovation District. As part of this development, an environmental deck will be built to link the various buildings directly to the station's concourse level.
Construction work on both contracts is expected in 2020. Prior to that more announcements of contract awards can be expected with contract J110 for the construction of Jurong East interchange likely to be announced soon as well.
They had already began some road work along jurong west ave 2, widening the middle divider between the two side of the road for the track and station.
ReplyDeleteHow are there 6 platforms on CCK mrt already? Shouldn't it supposed to be 4?
ReplyDelete2 MRT, 2 LRT
Oh yea I totally forgot about those.
DeleteInteresting to note that this page shows the same render as the one LTA provided for CCK West, but labels it as Tengah Plantation instead...
