Pre-Construction - Tengah, Hong Kah & Tengah Plantation

Being built as a new township, Tengah estate will see several Jurong Region Line stations serving the different districts within the town. Tengah station is to be located at the town centre, Hong Kah station will serve the southern portion while Tengah Plantation station serves the plantation residential district. In future, another station may be added further north between Tengah and Choa Chu Kang West stations to serve the north eastern portion of the town. All of these stations lie within a currently heavily vegetated area and works are underway to clear the area for construction activities to commence on the new town.

As the development of Tengah town progresses, the landscape is expected to change drastically. The JRL will also be built concurrently and will settle in to the new town as it progresses. Some of the stations may serve low density areas in the intial years, while other stations may not open even though the surrounding area may already have been built up due to phasing issues.

What do you mean by phasing issues? Is thia going to be similar to how the Punggol LRT System operates? Like Oasis and Damai LRT Station didn't open on the East Loop due to low demand but opened when there are more residents living in the HDB flats and condominiums surrounding the station vicinity?

    1. Hi, what we meant by this is that some areas around the upcoming stations have started to have BTO plots being released. However, due to the phased opening of JRL, even though the areas are already built up with residents in the area, as the stations are not ready to be opened, there will not be available rail service. The stations which we were referring to in this case is Tengah Plantation, for which the only BTO plots in Tengah released to date are located nearby; Tengah and Hong Kah which currently have no released projects nearby. Unfortunately as Tengah and Hong Kah stations are part of phase 1, these areas will see rail service commence first. We are not too sure about the order of BTO and other activity precinct projects due in the area, but there is potential that these areas may not be as developed as the area around Tengah Plantation which will definitely see activity earlier. Tengah Plantation is under phase 2, thus unfortunately will see rail service commence later although it is more built up in comparison. Hope this explains.
