This also marks the first entries by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Branch Office Singapore and Singapore Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd into the rail civil construction scene locally. The other two bidders - China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corporation (Singapore Branch) and China State Construction Eningeering Corporate Limited (Singapore Branch) (CSCEC) - have previously worked on other projects, namely the Tuas West Extension on the East West Line and Geylang Bahru and Kaki Bukit stations on the Downtown Line. Additionally, CSCEC is also currently involved in the construction of Keppel and Cantonment stations on the Circle Line stage 6.

In total, 5 civil contracts for the JRL have been tendered and closed for bidding to date. Another 3 are currently open for bidding while a remaining 5 contracts have yet to be released. From our understanding, contract awards for the contracts closed earlier can be expected around the third quarter of the year.
