Contracts J110 (top) and J120 (bottom) as of end-Q3. |
To speed things up and keep our updates a little more current, we'll be combining the updates for both Q2 and Q3 for the remaining contracts (J110, J111, J112, J113, J115A & J120) of the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Hopefully, this gives our reads a more timely perspective of the works progression.
JE5 - Jurong East (Contract J110)
Over the past two quarters, the station has progressed steadily. At the beginning of Q2, the concourse slab had not yet been cast, however at end-Q3, works were making progress on the casting of the lower platform level.

Transfer hub & plazaAt the station's western end, the former main entrance is being transformed into a transfer hub & plaza area. The transfer hub will connect the new station extension with the existing station building, allowing transfers between the existing platforms and the new Pandan Reservoir-bound track at the upper platform level of the JRL station. The area below the transfer hub will be a plaza area that allows passengers to connect to the Jurong Hub development where the bus interchange will be located. Additionally connections at the second level will allow passengers at the station concourse to connect to Westgate and the Jurong Hub developments through an expanded J-walk network - the elevated pedestrian network around Jurong East station.

Station building
The eastern end of the Jurong East station is the slowest to progress, with works at the western end taking the slight lead. Over the past 2 quarters, the works at this end have progressed to the lower platform level. A viaduct pier just before the station is also being constructed here, consisting of 2 square columns supporting the split level tracks at the station.
Over at the western end, works through the quarters had seen the columns grow from the concourse level up to the lower platform level. Rebar installation was underway towards the end of Q3 ahead of casting works proceeding.

Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub & viaducts (Contract J120)
The contract for the construction of the Jurong Hub development includes the construction of viaducts between contracts J109 and J110, running through the Jurong Hub integrated transport hub. Part of the development will be supported by the viaduct piers that will also carry the viaduct spans for the JRL. Through the past 2 quarters, span construction and in-situ casting has been continuing. The number of spans either completely cast or beginning construction works have increased from 3 per bound to 5 per bound. The spans towards the western end are the most advanced among the 5 spans being worked on.

Through the past 2 quarters, great progress has been made which can be seen in the changes at the two sites. As we head into the tail end of the year, we're merely 4 years away from this section of the line becoming a reality for commuters in the area. Till then, we'll do our best to keep you updated on the progress being made.
