We earlier detailed the changes being made to Choa Chu Kang station. Over the past week or so, some of these changes to the existing station's concourse area have been changed. The existing fareline nearer to Exit C has been shifted further out towards Exit A. In addition, the new passenger service centre (PSC) for the North-South Line (NSL) has been put into service, with the old PSC being closed for service.

8 September 2024 - One last remaining segment to be relocated, along with the fareline towards
Exit B.

In addition, the new escalators leading to the transfer mezzanine level were cleaned up and almost ready to be put into service. However as of this past weekend, the area was still cordoned off from public access.

The relocation of the fareline will allow floor replacements works to be carried out within the fare paid zone, especially at the location of the former fareline. As can be seen, the flooring is currently a mix between the new and old tiles. At platform level, the barriers around the new staircase linking to the transfer mezzanine have mostly been removed as well, indicating the impending opening of the new connection. Once this is done, the existing up-riding escalator and staircase will be closed to allow for its demolition.

since removed. Signage that once hung from the blue beam has also since been removed.

With the first phase of changes mostly completed, the next phases of changes will commence shortly. It will be interesting to see these works take place as these will be far more extensive - demolition & installation of new escalators and construction of a new lift. We'll continue to bring you updates as & when things develop.
