J105 - Jurong West update Q3 2023

Construction is not always boring. Occasionally, you do come across a stunning landscape with partially constructed viaducts that catch the light in the right manner. Some of the images captured over at contract J105's Jurong West site over the past quarter were really magical. The theme of this post will be that pictures do speak a thousand words. Viaducts
Over the past quarter, the construction of viaducts between the Jurong West and Bahar Junction stations has made progress with approximately 4 spans being completed for both bounds. The balanced cantilever method was employed here with lifting frames being used to bring the segmental box girders into position.

deadlines and milestones are met. This is not easy work.

Station
The Jurong West station will be located in the road median. Rounded piers will support crossheads that in turn support pre-cast beams that form the concourse level slab. On either end of the crossheads, concourse level columns will be cast that will support the platform and trackbed above. Eventually, a metal roof frame will be installed, similar to the design employed on the Tuas West Extension to wrap around the concourse and platform levels of the station below. Over the past quarter, progress has been made from 2 completed crossheads at the beginning to 5 towards the end.

Significant progress is being made by the contractor at the station and viaducts here. As we head into Q4, it will be interesting to see how quickly the works progress as the viaducts and stations take shape. Stay tuned for our future updates!
