J105 - Station piers popping up

30 October 2022 - A view of the rounded piers located in the road median.
These piers will support the station structure which will be cantilever
above the road.

30 October 2022 - 5 station piers visible. Are you able to spot all 5?

Jurong West station has been progressing steadily and most likely is the second most advanced station currently under construction along the Jurong Region Line (JRL) after Tengah Plantation. This station only falls into second place as the concourse slab crossheads are not yet under construction unlike the former.

Earlier this month, during a visit to the station site only a single pier for the station was visibly casting its main shaft. A few other piers were only at the foundation or initial stages of construction. The progress nearly a month later is astounding with 4 more piers having the main shaft cast as well.

30 October 2022 - A close up view. Wet sandbags can be seen on the top
of one of the piers, aiding with quicker curing of the concrete.

30 October 2022 - A view of further station piers with sheet piles in place
for the foundations of another pier being installed.

Further west, towards neighbouring Bahar Junction station, several piers that will support the JRL viaduct are also under construction. In total, there will be approximately 11 piers supporting the viaduct spans between the two stations. 1 down, 10 to go!

30 October 2022 - The first viaduct pier for contract J105 is up.

shaft casting works.

to Bahar Junction station.

Works are pick up pace at the Jurong West station site. We look forward to the station and viaduct piers taking shape over the next few months. Do stay tuned for more updates as the structures shape up.
