Nanyang Gateway serves as the first of 3 stations located within Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Currently disconnected from any rail service, the line will run through the heart of NTU providing easier access for the university students to transfer to other radial lines for travel to other parts of the island.

Nanyang Gateway station is located along Nanyang Avenue, near the junction with Nanyang Crescent. As the first station within NTU, it acts as a gateway into the university, being located along one of the two major entrances to the tertiary education institution. In the immediate vicinity of the station are residential halls which will have convenient access in future.

The station will be located along the side of the road as opposed to the road median. Currently a simple green verge with drainage, it is likely that the trees will have to make way for construction work.
