Jurong Region Line Construction: Project Information Center for Jurong Region Line

The Project Information Centre (PIC) for the Jurong Region Line was opened to the public in early 2023. Located at Exit F of Boon Lay station, the PIC was established in 2022 under the auspices of the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

A few MPs were first invited to tour the facility during grassroots events, before being opened to the public on 16 January 2023 without much fanfare.

Bookings are required prior to entry to the PIC, with each visit limited to an hour. The PIC is opened only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 9am and 5pm, and closed on public holidays and weekends. 10 additional guests may be invited in addition to the host booking the time slot. The PIC itself is splendid and no effort has been spared on the models on display. Not every station is represented, but the following models are available for viewing as of 28 February 2023 during the team's visit to the PIC. The Choa Chu Kang model seen in the MP's photo was missing, though it was verified it had been removed for alterations and will be re-added in future. This post will be updated when that occurs.

All the models on display are exceptionally detailed, with faithful reproductions of the station exteriors, exits and miscellaneous infrastructure seen in released renders. Of particular noteworthiness was the effort spent by the contractor to reproduce the mountainous terrain around Jurong Hill station, and the Jurong Island Highway viaduct next to Jurong Pier station.

The level of detail far exceeds the models seen on display for the Thomson-East Coast Line or Circle Line 6 stations. We'll place more images of the models at the end of this post.

A detailed model of Tengah Depot was also present, featuring the stabling yard for trains, administration buildings and other associated facilities.

The PIC also boasts wall posters on every station, with information on contracts, ongoing construction works, and renders, including the elusive Tengah station.

A video is also played detailing the rolling stock and other associated contracts relating to the depot; environmental control system; mechanical and electrical services; communications system; maintenance management system; access management system; fire protection; ticket machines; fare gates; and half-height platform screen doors.

The facilitators of the Jurong Region Line PIC have outdone themselves in providing an exceptional experience for those wanting to know more about Singapore's seventh MRT line.
