Inaugural JRL newsletter - Issue 01 May 2022

Recently, we came across several renders of the Jurong Region Line (JRL) stations that we hadn't seen before. These were released by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & JRL Contractors as part of their Project Information Panels and also an inaugural e-newsletter for JRL (read it here). Typically these panels are found at Project Information Centres (PICs), but we have noted that there is no news of any PIC for the JRL although we had heard that there might potentially have been one located at the Boon Lay offices. Nonetheless, its been quiet on that front.

The project information panels do offer a bit of background into the basics of each contract - number of stations, length of viaducts and describe challenges in the contract as well as nuisance mitigation measures. Do take a look at the various panels for the different contracts below.

If you're wondering how we found these out, and by extension the renders, our good contractor for J107 Chip Eng Seng-Sembcorp Design and Construction (CES_SDC) had put up notices to sign up for their e-newsletter. Within the e-newsletter was a further link to a Telegram group by LTA and the contractor. We understand that this is a new initiative being rolled-out by LTA, likely as a result of minimizing contact during the pandemic period but nonetheless still remaining effective even with relaxed regulations. 

With the project information panels being put up on most of the Telegram channels, these now resemble an electronic or virtual PIC from which residents or those interested in the project can receive up to date notices about construction. An e-newsletter for the JRL was also released on the Telegram channels. Do check them out for yourself if you have the Telegram app.
